Michael B. Faison

Executive Director of the Idaho Commission on the Arts

Michael Faison

Mr. Faison came to Idaho from Pennsylvania, where he served as the Arts in Education Division Director of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. He has chaired the Arts Education Advisory Group of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, on which he served for three years. Previously, he was the Assistant Director of the Oregon Arts Commission and before that, the Executive Director of the Center for Arts Management and Technology at Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At the Center he was instrumental in the development of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts’ grants management system and the early prototype of the eGrant® electronic grant application system. He served as a management consultant for Pittsburgh’s Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, participating in multi-media product development, web development and information technology literacy and instruction programs for high school youth in Pittsburgh. Mr. Faison also was an art educator at McCallum High School in Austin, Texas, where he taught commercial art and design in the Austin Independent School District. He has extensive professional experience as an illustrator, printer and photographer.

Mr. Faison is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (BFA in Studio Art and Texas art teaching certification) and of Carnegie Mellon University, H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management/College of Fine Arts (Master of Arts Management.)

Upbeat Breakfast occurs the second Tuesday of every month at The Coeur d'Alene Resort. On average, about 150 members attend making it one of the most popular networking events in our community. Trade tables allow members to display their business and speak briefly about it to the group. The program features a different speaker each month, highlighting various topics of interest.

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED

The cost is $13 and includes breakfast and coffee.
